Effective techniques for getting backlinks
How should I get links? It's one of the most frequently asked questions I've heard related to SEO and in this post I'll show you nine ways to achieve it.
Since the arrival of Google Penguin several methods to get links have become less effective and some even dangerous. Fortunately, there are still several valid ways to achieve them. Goodness! Because without links it is more difficult to position yourself in search engines and get visitors. Here is a list with some techniques for getting links.

Create Great Content
This is the first thing you must do to be able to get links. At the end of the day ... What will motivate another person to link you? What is it going to link to? Your content and your content.
They say that content is king ... I do not think so. For me, creativity is the king.
You can have excellent content but if you touch the same topics as all blogs and from the same angle ... What sets you apart? Why are they going to link to you and not to any of the other blogs? In Marketing this is known as USP, Unique Selling Proposal. Although it does not really matter what you call it, just make sure that your site offers something that others do not.
Link to Other Blogs
This is one of the techniques to get links that almost nobody uses ... Why is it effective? These days few are bloggers who do not constantly review (or at least occasionally) their chosen web analytics program (almost always Google Analytics). If they suddenly notice that there is a referral that has been sending visitors, they are very likely to go and check the site.
And this is where all that good quality content that you have created can help you, once you see it they will not hesitate to link you (or at least leave you a comment ... but then you will have already entered your radar which can help you in the future ) And they are not just assumptions ... this happens through something called reciprocation, and according to Robert Cialdini is one of the six principles of persuasion. Basically it is the tendency of people to feel "in debt" with someone who has done something for them.
Cultivate Relationships With Other Bloggers
Cultivate a relationship! This is perhaps one of the most effective techniques for getting links! (You can even win contests like this ...) And it's also the latest: contact bloggers and cultivate relationships with them.
You can locate them in several ways ... two of them are searching on Google or using some tool like Followerwonk. Comment the posts on your blog (or those you write for other blogs), but please do not comment "Good Post". Really read it and try to contribute something with your comment. If you think you can not contribute anything think twice before you decide to comment.
Follow it on twitter, retweet it a couple of times, answer your questions and slowly begin to notice. And as Jon Cooper would say, "Give a crap." Show them that you are not a robot but a human being too and that you really have a genuine interest in them. And all this of what good? If you have a new post on your blog and want to make it known, who do you think shares it:
Certain blogger whom you just found on Twitter and who has never heard of you
Someone you are familiar with, that your name "sounds" to you. He has read you on his blog, he has seen you on his Twitter, He has even seen you receive several visits from your blog!
Participate in Forums
Although the links from the signature of the forums will not make you overnight in 1st place in the search engines for the keywords you choose ... yes they can take you visits. Search forums related to your topic, obviously want forums that are active ... if your last post was 2012 you can forget it, register and start participating.
Solve doubts, become someone recognized within the forum and a link in your signature may be enough to bring you many visits. But please do not register in a lot of forums, leave a link in your signature and do not return more ... that will help you very little for the positioning of your site and will bring you 0 visits.
Leave Comment in Blogs
Here the goal is again to get visitors. Find blogs related to your topic and comment your posts. Simple eh! However there are some things to keep in mind:
The more readers and comments have the articles of the blog better, because your goal is to win visits.
Leave a comment. This does not mean that you have to agree with the author of the post. If you have a contrary opinion you can express it, with much diplomacy, in your commentary and there is no problem ... The objective is to leave a comment such that people read it and think: "O_O I have to visit the site of this person"
Analyze the backlinks of your competition
You can use one of the many tools that exist:
- Ahrefs
- Open Site Explorer
- Majestic SEO
- SEOKicks
Etc - The goal is not to copy your backlinks but to see how and where they get them to give you an idea that it's working and that it might work. It also serves to grab inspiration π
One of the things you can do is get all the backlinks you can from 3-4 of your competitors and use this tool to generate Venn diagrams. With this you will find pages that link to 2 or more of them. And if you already link to them it is much more likely that you can get a link from that same page.
Associate With Other Bloggers
This technique can be very useful and is very simple to do! It simply consists of contacting bloggers who are in a similar theme to yours, but do not directly compete, and collaborate to get links.
If your blog specifically talks about laptops you could associate with another blogger whose blog specifically talks about tablets. Or if your blog is focused on learning Ruby you could associate with another blog whose theme is to learn Python.
You have to clarify something ... I am not talking about a link exchange, it is not "put a link to my site in your blogroll and I will put one to your site in mine". DO NOT! This is COLLABORATION. Occasional mentions within your articles to yours and vice versa, for example.
Or you can mix both feeds and create one RSS feed with all your entries. There are several ways to benefit each other when they partner with another blogger, be creative π
Discover 5 Safe and Functional Link Building Techniques!
Often, I have found comments like: "Link building is synonymous with penalty", "If you link building your SEO strategy only makes sense in the short term," etc, etc.
This controversy has been increased lately due to the latest Penguin 4.0 update that many have been quick to name: "The final blow to link building."

Indeed, I personally find it difficult to understand the origin of these types of messages that I believe are based mainly on a clear ignorance of the subject that we are dealing with.
In fact, thanks to Penguin 4.0 and its real-time performance, now link building campaigns, if done well, generate improvements in the positioning of a web more quickly and effectively.
However, one of the requirements that I always set before launching a link campaign is that these should not only improve the authority of a page, but also amplify your brand.
5 Winning Link Building Techniques For Your Campaigns
Once clarified my particular vision on this subject, today I come to bring you a few techniques aimed at a link building strategy that will help you improve the positioning of your web project.
1. Analyze The Links Of Your Competition
Analyzing competition is one of the basics of marketing.
It is common to look at how your competition presents your products, what price range is moving, what is your communication strategy ...
When making the check list of your competition adds the following point: Which web pages link it?
For this, I recommend that you analyze the first results (you can stick to the top 10) of Google SERPs for one (or several) of your keywords.
Once you have that list, as a rule, if those pages are there it is because they are doing a good job of positioning and, therefore, a good linkbuilding.
There are many tools that serve to extract these links that point to our competition but today I want to focus on a new Semrush that has been presented recently.
Here, the idea is either to compare six domains that you previously added to your list or to enter your domain and five of the competition.
So you can see what links are pointing to your direct competitors to try to replicate them to your site.
For this example, we will analyze the domains of four referents of SEO in our country: Luis M. Villanueva, Alex Navarro, Dean Romero and Chuiso.
It should be noted that these four pages are a reference in the sector and, therefore, no longer have to make a great effort in link building tasks, as they will naturally get a large number of valuable links.
However, your data can serve others who are starting to extract relevant information.
Find Broken Links
This is a link building technique that although it does not achieve the expected result in all cases, can help you increase your links profile if you are pushy and at the same time help the webmaster that houses a broken link on your page.
To analyze these links you can help with the Chrome extension "Check my links", which analyzes all the backlinks of a page and shows you the ones that are broken.
Once the linked content is identified that is no longer available, you can go to the archive.org website.
There you can see how it was said, create a similar blog and also tell the webmaster that you have a broken link on your website, you will be offered a solution on a tray.
Press Releases
Press releases are a good way to get a specific piece of news to the media or press agencies and thus gain a link from authority pages.
You must keep in mind that to publish your note, it must contain relevant content.
Take advantage of the launch of a product, the opening of a local or a new line of business.
I also recommend that you use a brand text anchor, because if you use a keyword and the note is published in many media, you could get a fright.
In this article I explain how you can write your press release.
Authority Profiles
Find authority pages related to your sector where you can create a profile, this is a simple way to get powerful, fast and secure links.
Reviews
Surely in your sector there are products or services that are willing to publish positive reviews.
We all love that they speak well of us and we are predisposed to show these comments to the world.
Social networks
Do not waste the opportunity offered by social networks to get links that point to your website.
Directories
The directories are portals with very bad reputation since the appearance of Google Penguin.
Many of them are considered as link farms by the search engine and we should flee from them.
However, there are thematic directories where it is convenient to include a tab with our profile and add a link in it.
These directories are clean, take care of their content and as I say, often relate to a thematic area.
If you also have a local business, they will help you improve your Google My Business ranking.
How to get quality external backlinks or links without being annoying Google Penguin
What is a Backlink?
This is a link that comes from another page other than ours and that points to our website or Blog (ie an external link).

TYPES OF BACKLINKS
There are 2 types of links or external links:
1. "Dofollow" or "follow"
It is a link that transmits authority to the page that links, ie it transmits what is known in SEO jargon as "link juice".
By establishing this type of link we are creating relationships with other web pages and we are making it easier for the Google search engine to more easily identify the topic of our content.
Advantages of the "Dofollow"
- They transmit authority or link juice.
- They transmit web traffic.
- It creates relationships with other webs of our sector.
- It helps the searcher to more easily identify the content theme.
Disadvantages of "Dofollow"
- A high percentage may make Google Penguin believe links are not natural.
Curiosities of the "Dofollow" links that you may not know
Today guest blogging is the preferred strategy or the most used to get Dofollow links, but an important detail is to increase the authority of that page so that the links transmit more "Link Juice", this is something that many people pass thus losing part of the capacity for transmitting authority.
It's very simple; we create a post in "Blog 1" with 2 links to "My Blog", then post another blog post "Blog 2" and add link to "Blog 1", we could also add from a blog post a link to " blog 1 "with which we would increase the authority of the page and that the transmission of authority to our Blog is much greater.
Another curiosity, a little more known is that it only transmits authority to the first link in the same domain, the second link will help us add a greater diversity of anchor text, but will not transmit link juice.
2. "Nofollow" links
Although they do not transmit authority, they do transmit web traffic and are very positive for SEO because it gives you a set of much more natural backlinks where you will have "dofollow" links and another "nofollow" ).
Google does not like artificial links and if you see that in your case you have most "dofollow" links, you probably think that they have not been achieved in a more or less natural way.
Advantages of "Nofollow"
- They transmit web traffic.
- They help us to have more natural backlinks.
Disadvantages of "Nofollow"
- It does not convey authority.
But I do not want to get more involved with the definition and I would like to go directly to telling you the best ways to get quality backlinks.
Best Strategies for Getting Quality Backlinks
1) Publishing in Blogs of Great Authority
The easiest way to get a high quality link is to post an article on another blog in our industry and add a couple of links to our Blog.
But I advise you to start with blogs that have more web authority and web traffic, so that in this way you start with the ones that can bring you the most benefits.
How do we do it?

2) Replicating Links To Your Competition
It is the strategy to get links of quality simpler and more effective, and consists of analyzing which are the best links of our competitors and replicate these links, that's easy.
To get these backlinks you can use different strategies but the most effective is to publish an article as a guest blogger, because proposing a link exchange is usually wrong if we do not previously have a friendly relationship with the other party.
Analyze with ahrefs the most authoritative links you want to replicate and get down to business.
3) Working Your Brand Image
Improving the brand of your blog can take from 1 to 2 years but when you get it popular, you will literally send the links to your articles, which will logically make it easier for them to position themselves in the search engine.
Some quick tips to work your brand:
- Start to work 3 social profiles; LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
- Use news aggregators to increase the reach of your content (mktfan, bitacoras, marketertop, etc.)
- Post more outside your blog than inside your blog.
- Attends online and in-person events.
- Spend a lot of time networking.
Create a private group on Facebook together with a group of bloggers to create a "Win to Win" relationship.
4) Creating a Professional Course
A few weeks ago I created the course + mentoring "How to reach your goals with a Blog", and some of the strategies I used to publicize the course is to create an affiliate network with other bloggers, and some of these bloggers decide to publish an article about the course or related to the course where it is mentioned, with which we are obtaining quality links through this great initiative of diffusion.
5) Make Friends With an SEO
Becoming friends with an SEO is the best way to get quality backlinks, but I speak of a real friendship and never a friendship of interest.
There are very good professionals in the SEO world that you should know and start having contact with them, and the best place to start this communication is in any of the big SEO congresses that are in Spain every year.
6) Create a Private Group With Other Bloggers
Creating a private group with other bloggers on Facebook will allow us to have a bridge of communication with these professionals and over time will generate a real friendship, and almost by magic you will see how the professionals of the group begin to mention you in their articles of the Blog, but do not be in a hurry, to get it requires months of communication and conversation.
10 tips for getting quality backlinks
Since Google Penguin arrival it is very important to get quality backlinks, it is not worth any backlinks, since if they come from low quality fonts they can be negative for our website.
The best way to get backlinks is to create useful articles and guides for users who follow our blog, but this is not enough.

In addition to posting your articles on your blog, you should post on other websites, such as Digg, HubPages, Examiner, Buzzle, Technorati, Squidoo, eHow.
The articles must have between 500 and 900 words for the search engine to give it enough quality.
Do not share the entire content, but a fragment of it and readers will have to go to our page to finish reading it. Between 50% and 60% is more than enough.
5.- Include Your Web in Directories Related to Your Sector.
You should include your website in directories of your sector, but only in those that are relevant.
You can find websites of your sector using the following Google search: inurl: links intitle: or inurl: resources intitle

Share your articles on Facebook, Twitter, Google + and Linkedin.
5 STEPS TO IMPROVE THE AUTHORITY OF YOUR WEB
I'm sure you're not happy with the amount of traffic your website receives. You have put a lot of effort into developing a good website with quality content but the result does not come. It is time to give him the push he deserves.
WHAT IS THE AUTHORITY OF YOUR WEB?
The domain authority or domain authority is a metric that measures the popularity of your website and its ability to attract traffic from search engines.
There are several companies and gurus that have devised metrics that try to be as accurate as possible to measure the authority of the domain. The initial was created by Google, the so-called PageRank, unfortunately it became obsolete. One now in use is the DA (domain authority) that was developed by the American Moz SEO company.
Moz defines the DA as a metric resulting from combining more than 40 factors that positively affect the rankings of a website on Google. Among them there are 3 main factors to be highlighted: seniority, popularity (measured by links) and size of the web.
The Dominion Authority can be measured from 0 to 100, where 100 is the maximum figure and the highest authority, while 0 is the least authority. It is a more accurate data than the PageRank, created by Google, which is measured from 0 to 10. You have some domain to check you can use this bulk domain authority checker tool to check 10 site per request.
We must bear in mind that the DA is only a metric invented by a company that is not Google, and what we try to see in reality is the popularity of our website in Google. Therefore the only one that could give us an exact data on the popularity of our website would be Google, but unfortunately this information is not available.
SEO ONSITE
Analyzing SEO onsite is the first phase of any SEO campaign. The reason is simple, we have total control over it. As the same name says, onsite means on your website, so they are factors directly controlled by the webmaster.
There are many tools available to help us identify what improvements we can make to our website so that Google can find it more easily as Woorank. In less than a minute it will give you a full report on errors and aspects to improve on your website.
The speed of your website as well as its usability in mobile are 2 key aspects of Onsite SEO today. You can use the Pingdom Website Speed ββTest and Google Mobile-Friendly Tester tools to see if you need to work on these aspects to improve your rankings.
SEO OFFSITE
One of the keys to improving your visibility in Google is SEO Offsite also called link-building. The link building is to get other websites to put links pointing to your website.
As we said before, this is the way Google measures the popularity of a website. We can say that Google sees external links as votes to a politician in elections, the one that wins the most contest.
In recent years the way of doing link building has changed a lot since Google continues to improve its famous algorithm by which it orders the results shown in its search engine and also uses it to penalize anyone who tries to manipulate the rankings of its web in the search engine.
A little over 5 years ago it was common to change links with other websites or even buy them in the so-called "link-farms" or link farms. This is no longer a sustainable strategy and can only cause Google to penalize you and get you to remove your index in the most serious cases.
Despite this, we can still influence rankings by building links naturally through content marketing.
Content marketing is based on the fact that high quality content receives links naturally. Although I do not fully agree with this statement since the promotion part of them is not mentioned, I think it is the best way to attract links and influence our DA.
A good tool to see who is linking to your website (or a competitor's) is MajesticSEO.
INTERNAL LINKING
No less important than the link building is the internal linking. And the good news is that again, you have absolute control of how you manage your internal links.
Internal linking is useful in SEO for two main reasons: with internal links you will be able to manage the internal flow of PageRank and to which pages you want to give more strength than others. On the other hand, internal links serve Google and its 'spiders' to navigate your entire website without leaving any page outside the index.
A very useful tool is the extension of Google Chrome Check my links. With this tool you can see if any of your links on your website is broken to be able to direct it to the correct page and not leave you any PR on the way.
SOCIAL NETWORKS
Although there has been very little clarity from Google regarding the impact of social networks on SEO, it is clear that it plays a very important role with some experts attributing up to 10% of weight in Google's algorithm.
In any case, we must see social networks as an amplifier of our content. Remember that the link building is one of the keys to improving your DA and for this we need two things: produce quality content and promote it.
FOLLOW UP
One of the keys in any discipline of online marketing is the trial and error, for which it is essential to follow up and analyze. What content is the most shared of your blog? Which has attracted the most links? Have you experienced an improvement in rankings after improving the speed of your website? Whatever the action is, it is important to follow up on its impact to repeat the one that is successful.
A good tool to track your rankings is Serplabs, and it's also free!
CONCLUSION
It is important to monitor the authority of your domain as this will give you clues as to whether your efforts to position yourself are bearing fruit or if on the contrary you have to change strategy. However, keep in mind that domain authority is a relative metric, so comparing yourself with your competitors is the best way to use it effectively.
